What Is The Nicest Religion? Islam? Christianity? Judaism? Buddhism? Maybe Something Else?

Both Islam and Christianity are actually branches of religion on the same tree. Judaism, Islam, and Christianity are all believers in one God (the same God). There is a great documentary television series called “30 Days” by Morgan Sperlock that features an episode of living as a Muslim in the United States for 30 days. The episode provides a great deal of information about the similarities between the religions.

These three different faiths all teach peace, kindness, love and respect for your fellow human beings. There are of course smaller sects with less honorable intentions in every faith (KKK, Al Quida, etc.) However, they are not the norm and do not represent these religions as a whole.

When I set out as a Peace Corps Volunteer in 2007, I knew nothing about life in a Muslim country. I knew I would be spending 27 months in a Muslim country as a Christian woman and naturally worried that Christians would be viewed negatively. I feel so fortunate to have been sent to Azerbaijan, a secular Muslim country where I was welcomed with open arms and love.

I lived with a Muslim family for two years; they treated me as part of their family. I gained first hand experience living a day to day life with Muslims. Coming from a strong Christian family, I was both humbled and surprised at how welcoming the people were, and wondered if the roles were reversed if the same could be said of my home community.

After two years in country, I learned that the Muslim culture encourages people to be kind, honest, and generous with people of all faiths. I experienced it first hand, and I am grateful for the chance to have experienced one of the nicest religions.
